In the federal and state police forces, there were 40 new cases of suspected extremism in the first half of the year – mostly right-wing extremism. Only one suspicion was not confirmed. There are big regional differences.
Police officers in Germany must stand up for the free democratic basic order. In addition to physical fitness and a flawless certificate of good conduct, this is one of the basic requirements for entry into the police force. Nevertheless, there are doubts among individual officials about their loyalty to the constitution.
The dpa news agency reported 40 new suspected extremism cases in the first half of the year. The basis is a survey of the federal and state interior ministries. Most of the time it was about suspected right-wing extremism. Only in one of the cases was the suspicion not confirmed.
